Dr. Sheraz Aslam

About Me

Sheraz Aslam (Ph.D., Member, IEEE) is an academic and researcher specializing in Artificial Intelligence, data analytics, smart energy systems, wireless networks, and cloud computing. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at European University Cyprus (EUC), Nicosia, Cyprus.

He received his B.S. degree in Computer Science from Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan, Pakistan, in 2015, and his M.S. degree in Computer Science from COMSATS University Islamabad (CUI), Islamabad, Pakistan, in 2018, with research focused on energy optimization in smart grids. During his M.S. studies, he also worked as a Research Associate with Dr. Nadeem Javaid.

In 2022, he received his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering and Informatics from Cyprus University of Technology (CUT), Limassol, Cyprus, under the supervision of Dr. Herodotos Herodotou. His doctoral research can be accessed through the Ph.D. Thesis link.

Following his Ph.D., Dr. Aslam worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the DICL Research Lab, Cyprus University of Technology. His research activities included participation in the EU-funded aerOS project, with research spanning edge–cloud computing, Internet of Things (IoT), data analytics, and intelligent systems. He has also contributed to several European research initiatives, including STEAM and MARI-Sense.

Alongside his research career, Dr. Aslam has extensive experience in higher education. From 2023 to 2026, he served as a Lecturer at CTL Eurocollege, Limassol, Cyprus, teaching courses in computer science and related disciplines. He currently continues his academic career as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at European University Cyprus.

Dr. Aslam has authored and co-authored more than 130 research publications in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. His work has appeared in prominent scientific journals, including IEEE Internet of Things Journal, Renewable & Sustainable Energy Reviews, and Electric Power Systems Research. His research spans several interdisciplinary areas, with particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, data analytics, generative adversarial networks, smart grids and renewable energy systems, Internet of Things (IoT), wireless networks, edge–cloud computing, and intelligent cyber-physical systems.

Beyond his teaching and research activities, Dr. Aslam is the Founding Chair and Program Committee Chair of the Mediterranean Conference on Emerging Technologies and Systems (MCETS 2026), to be held in Larnaca, Cyprus.

His broader academic interests include developing intelligent and data-driven solutions for sustainable energy, smart transportation, predictive maintenance, Industry 4.0/5.0, and next-generation computing systems. He actively welcomes international research collaborations, joint research projects, visiting researchers, and prospective Ph.D. students interested in these and related areas.
